The Salt Lake Chamber, Utah State University, the Utah Division of Water Resources, Utah Science Technology and Research Agency and Orbit Irrigation are excited to work on a collaborative Water Smart Innovation Challenge. The challenge will offer cash awards to winning innovators and entrepreneurs whose solutions can make an immediate impact to optimize the way Utah companies and citizens use water. The contest has three opportunities for Utah innovators to develop innovations that immediately make some improvement on Utah’s water stewardship. In the months ahead we'll be looking for the brightest minds in academia, university students and entrepreneurs to help solve Utah's water challenges.

General timeline: 

  1. May 30 - Applications open

  2. June 16- Letters of Intent Due

  3. June 27 - Application Deadline

INNOVATIVE RESEARCHERS WANTED

Salt Lake Chamber / USTAR / Energy Research Triangle - Academic / Industry Grant
$125,000 grants to develop digital solutions to improve the optimization of commercial use of water. The grants will be focused on rapidly deployable technology and direct collaboration with industry. The ERT-Professor Grant promotes collaboration among university researchers by requiring at least three universities to collaborate on an issue specific to Utah’s energy and natural resource landscape. Winning proposals demonstrate commercial viability and strong potential to positively impact Utah’s economy.

Grant applications will be administered through USTAR.

INNOVATIVE STUDENTS WANTED

Salt Lake Chamber / USTAR / Energy Research Triangle - Student / Workforce Grant
$15,000 grants to develop student driven solutions to improving optimization of commercial use of water. The grants will be focused on rapidly deployable technology and direct collaboration with industry. The ERT-Scholars Grant, under the direction of a faculty mentor, gives university student researchers across the state opportunities to engage in energy research. Along with demonstrating commercial viability and potential to positively impact Utah’s economy, applicants must also describe how winning the grant will help them achieve their professional goals.

Grant applications will be administered through USTAR.

INNOVATIVE ENTREPRENEURS WANTED
